Storyline

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

moive Reviews We had high hopes after reading the reviews but closed the movie down not even halfway in. A respected friend said that it had left him like a wet dishrag so we were intrigued to learn about how an animated film made for kids could possibly address such complex concepts. And we especially wondered how it could have been such a hit with respected critics and more importantly, young children. Sadly, we were completely bored. The animation is super-busy as is the dialogue. It's fun to hear the voices of a superstar cast, and some of the ideas are very insightful. But ultimately, it's a dull, boring movie with a high concept -> too wordy, leads nowhere, not worth hanging in to find out "what happens".
